POLICY
REGARDING CONSULTANT MEMBERSHIP WITH THE NORTH EAST REGIONAL BOARD
OF EXAMINERS
Preamble:
The Ohio State Dental Board (Board) has always been supportive
of its testing agency, the North East Regional Board of Examiners
(NERB). As members of NERB, the Board has direct input into NERB's
operating policy as a member state. This bilateral relationship
offers the best situation for graduates attempting to obtain licensure
to practice dentistry or dental hygiene in the state of Ohio or
in other NERB jurisdictions.
Since
it is important for Ohio to continue to maintain and increase
its presence in the NERB, membership in this organization becomes
a paramount focus of the Board. The NERB understands this relationship
and has always made membership available to meet the needs of
the member states.
Consultant
membership from Ohio to NERB is an avenue that should be followed
to maintain and increase Ohio's presence in the NERB.
The
following parameters must be met to qualify as a consultant member
from Ohio to NERB:
1.
The candidate must be in good standing with the Ohio State Dental
Board.
2.
The candidate must be engaged in the active practice of dentistry
or dental hygiene at the time of consideration by the Board.
3.
The candidate must have experience in education in the field of
dentistry or dental hygiene.
The
Board shall consider nominations from fellow Board members for
appointment by the Board to NERB as a consultant member. A vote
of a quorum of the Board shall be needed for appointment as a
consultant member from Ohio to NERB.
