POLICY REGARDING CONTINUING EDUCATION FOR RETIRED AND/OR OUT-OF-STATE LICENSEES

Preamble: The purpose of this policy is to update and supersede a decision of the Ohio State Dental Board (Board) in January of 1992 which exempted retired and/or out-of-state licensees from having to meet the continuing education requirements in order to maintain an active license in the state of Ohio.

The Board shall require that ALL licensees wishing to maintain an active license in the state of Ohio must meet the continuing education requirements necessary for renewal. There is no longer an exemption for those claiming to be retired or not currently practicing in the state of Ohio. All active licensees must meet these requirements, as outlined in Ohio Revised Code 4715.141 (dentists), 4715.25 (dental hygienists) and Ohio Admin. Code 4715-12-03 (dental assistant radiographers).
